How to book the best Havelock rental experience:
When to book a Havelock rental home & When to go:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in Emerald Isle. Book your vacation home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guides have coupons for local tours and attractions.
Planning and choosing yourvacation home:
- Start by choosing your a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Redone Luxury Waterfront at The Point w/ Heated Pool, Hot Tub, Fire Pit, Game Rm has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you book the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's a particular Havelock destination you long to visit, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Considerations for your stay:
- Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- Upon arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a great vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
