Rental property booking tips:
How to get the best value:
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Havelock area. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is a great way to save on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies supply Havelock area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Make a plan and choose the bestrental home:
- Select a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Queens Court 4104, Oceanview Condo in Emerald Isle, NC! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you reserve the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or may be applied to your invoice.
More considerations for your visit:
- We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- At Check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on good feedback to inspire more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
