How to book the best Emerald Isle rental experience:

When to visit Emerald Isle & When to book:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are high season in Emerald Isle. Booking your Havelock vacation home in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain money saving offers on local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Make a plan and pick a perfectvacation home:

  • Start by having your family decide on a vacation week and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. SINGLE Family Ocean Front - Howard's Hideaway has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock vacation rental search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

Additional considerations:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of problems.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas upon your arrival. text the property manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a excellent vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
