Vacation rental booking tips:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Reserve your rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
How to select the perfect vacation rental:
- Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. 3 blocks from Taylors Creek, 1 mile from Beaufort waterfront and boat ramp has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property owner before booking the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Tips for a wonderful stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
- Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
