How to book the best Emerald Isle vacation home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- In the Havelock area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- To get the best value, change your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local Havelock area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain coupons for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Planning and choosing yourvacation home:
- Begin by choosing your a vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Barbara's Dream has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before you book the home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is right for your group.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Does your family require particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- Note any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to stimulate future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
