Tips to get the perfect rental experience:
Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- In the Havelock area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Some property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area travel guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Start by choosing your trip dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Beach Getaway in the HEART of Atlantic Beach- B has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property owner before booking your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or may be applied to your agreement.
Advice for a great stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- To make sure no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the property manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- At departure, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a great time? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
