Our top Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Book your vacation in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- In the Havelock area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have discounts for local shops and restaurants.
Planning, picking, and booking the right Havelock vacation home:
- Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration you need. Cross Pointe, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually available online. If they are not listed, email the host before you reserve the property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs applied to your invoice.
More tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- During arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
