Emerald Isle rental home tips:
Cost saving strategies:
- In the Havelock area, The sooner you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Book your Havelock vacation home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have offers and deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Selecting and booking your prefect Havelock rental home:
- First, have your family agree to trip dates and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Footprints, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 10 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking websites. Otherwise, call the host before reserving the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
- To make sure damages aren't attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the host immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to drive more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
