Tips to get the perfect rental home experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Booking your Havelock vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Make a plan and choose the right Havelock vacation home:

  • Select your vacation week and max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Luxury Oceanfront Home with Pool, Elevator, Theater, and Chef's Kitchen has 7 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the host before reserving your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or might be applied to your contract.

Know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Upon arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a great stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
