Strategies to get the best vacation home experience:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To book the best vacation home for your budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Filter your search:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Ocean Front Resort @ APATB with Pool & Dune-side Waterslide View has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- If there's a certain Havelock beach you love, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a great time? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
