Strategies to get the perfect Havelock vacation rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

How to choose the perfect vacation rental:

  • Select dates and budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Oceanfront - GG's Cottage, Bogue Banks, Atlantic Beach, NC has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you book the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or might be applied to your agreement.
  • Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Protect your property!
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas during check in. Speak to the property manager right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to inspire future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
