Booking the best Havelock vacation rental experience:
Finding your best deal:
- Summer is high season in Emerald Isle. To get the best value, consider changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- In the Havelock area, The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If not, call the property management company before you book your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what is best for your group.

- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or might be applied to your agreement.
Know before you go:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of issues.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to inspire future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation.
