Tricks and tips to get the perfect rental experience:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. Book your vacation in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • In the Havelock area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitors guides that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to pick the perfect rental home in the Havelock area:

  • Select your dates and budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. A private, wooded home in Emerald Isle, NC, 5th row from the beach (5 min walk) has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. If they are not listed, email the host before reserving the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Add the property manager's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a great stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
