How to book the best vacation property experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Havelock area. Book your rental in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your vacation rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitor guides which will include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • First, have your family decide on date ranges and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Amazing Sound Front Cottage with Private Pier and In-Ground Pool!!! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking pages. If not, call the host before you book the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is right for your family.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
  • If your family is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To make sure no damages are attributed to your stay, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the property manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to stimulate new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
