Our top Emerald Isle rental property booking tips:

When to book & When to go:

  • To get the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitor guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Choosing and booking yourrental home:

  • Select dates and budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Beachy Keen, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rental home search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • At Check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to propel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
