Booking the best vacation home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Atlantic Beach. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties.
- In the Havelock area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Choosing the perfect rental in the Havelock area:
- Start by choosing trip dates and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Cozy Atlantic Beach 4 bed\/2 bath cottage has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before reserving the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- If there's a certain Havelock beach you are enamored with, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
