Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Havelock vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Havelock area. Reserve your Havelock rental in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. King Junior-Unit 113 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before you book the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- To make sure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, record any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the property manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a wonderful time? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
