How to find the best Emerald Isle vacation home experience:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Havelock area. To find the best value, try shifting your family's Havelock trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- The earlier you can book, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local Havelock area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have discounts for nearby tours and attractions.
Make a plan and choose the bestrental home:
- Choose vacation dates and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. OCEANFRONT- Pet Friendly with Mother in Law Quarters has 7 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. If not, call the host before booking your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or could be applied to your contract.
Some things to know before you go:
- Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- During check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
