Tips to get the best Emerald Isle vacation property experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summertime is high season in the Havelock area. To find the most suitable rental home within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The earlier your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local Havelock area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Park Place, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 7 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible online. If they are not listed, contact the host before booking the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
During your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- Make a record of any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a great stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
