Our top Atlantic Beach vacation rental home tips and tricks:

Getting the most from your budget:

  • To find the best value, consider changing your vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Many property management companies supply Havelock area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Finding the perfect vacation rental in the Havelock area:

  • Start by choosing vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Rita's Restful Oceanview has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking pages. If not, call the property manager before you book your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on good feedback to compel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
