How to book the best Beaufort vacation property experience:
How to get the best value:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Havelock area. Booking your Havelock vacation home in the Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Filter your rental search:
- Begin by selecting the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. The Gray Whale Cottage in Beaufort, NC has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available online. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is suitable for your family.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain damages aren't linked to your family's stay, record any problem areas upon your arrival. message the rental manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few concerns.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a great time? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
