Strategies for getting the perfect rental experience:
Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Book your vacation in Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Planning and choosing the rightrental:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. The Gray Whale Cottage-Pet Friendly Home has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rentals search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before you book the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is right for your group.
- Does your group require special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
Advice for your stay:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- During check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to drive future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
