Tricks and tips to get the best Pine Knoll Shores rental home experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- Summertime is high season in the Havelock area. To get the best value, change your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- In the Havelock area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
Make a plan and pick the best Havelock rental home:
- First and foremost, have your family select the best dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Check out these prices! 2 blks to neighborhood beach entry; PKS boat ramps has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what bed configuration is right for your vacation.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your .
- Document any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
