Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
When to visit & When to reserve a Havelock rental home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Havelock area. To find the best value, consider shifting your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, property management companies supply Havelock area visitor guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Filter your rental search:
- First, have your family select the best dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. 2nd Row Oceanview home with private pool, hot tub, and elevator has 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before booking your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges might be applied to your contract.
More tips for your visit:
- Get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- During check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to drive new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
