Tricks and tips to get the perfect Havelock rental experience:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- Summer is high season in the Havelock area. To find the best rental home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Havelock restaurants, tours, and activities.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many property management companies supply Havelock area visitors guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Make a plan and choose the right Havelock rental home:
- Begin by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. 5 Bedroom, Oceanfront Home with Elevator on Ocean Ridge in Atlantic Beach, NC (The Amadeus) has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before booking your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is best for your trip.
- If there's a specific Havelock beach you long to visit, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
