Strategies to get the best Havelock rental home experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in Emerald Isle. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties.
- Hosts sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Choosing the best rental:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Check out this Gem at The Point! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation family.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More tips for your visit:
- Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of concerns.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
- To make certain that damages are not linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the host right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on great ratings to stimulate new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
