Havelock rental booking tips and tricks:
Money saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best value, shift your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, , and reduced traffic.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local Havelock area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guides have discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Choose vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Coral Shores #17, Oceanfront Condo in Pine Knoll Shores, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. If they are not listed, call the property manager before booking the rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your trip.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Request information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a specific Havelock beach you simply love, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
More tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
- To make certain damages are not linked to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the rental manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
