Tips for getting the best rental experience:
Get the best rental home value:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Havelock area. Reserve your Havelock vacation in Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Planning and choosing a perfect Havelock rental home:
- Select a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. High Cotton Cottage has 7 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is best for your group.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.
- Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
Have a great stay:
- We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
- During check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
