Getting the best Havelock rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Beaufort. Book your Havelock vacation in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- First, have your family choose date ranges and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Keeper's Retreat, Townhouse in Historical Beaufort, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the host before booking the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your trip.
- Looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
During your stay:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain damages aren't attributed to your stay, inspect for any problem areas during check in. Speak to the host right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
