How to get the best rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring is a good way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain discounts for local tours and attractions.

Make a plan and choose the right Havelock rental:

  • Choose your vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Ocean-front residence with unparalleled views has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available online. If you don't see them listed, call the host before you reserve the home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's an individual Havelock destination you simply love, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Additional considerations:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure that no damages are linked to your visit, note any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the property manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to inspire future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
