Rental home booking tips:

Finding your best deal:

  • To get the best value, shift your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, , and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Planning and choosing your prefectvacation home:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Panoramic View: 4BR, 3.5BA Oceanview Duplex in Emerald Isle! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Does your group require particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.

Know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Upon check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of problems.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a fantastic stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
