Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation rental experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- Summer is high season in Emerald Isle. Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain discounts for local shops and restaurants.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Start by having your group select the best dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Pet Friendly, Oceanside Interior Home Private Pool, Golf Cart, and Easy Access. has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking websites. If not, contact the property owner before booking the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's a particular Havelock beach you simply love, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
Tips to have a terrific stay:
- Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Upon check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many issues.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- At departure, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to compel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
