Havelock rental home tips and tricks:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Book your Havelock vacation in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Many property management companies supply Havelock area visitors guide magazines that include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to choose the perfect rental home:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Pet Friendly, Ocean Front, 3 Ensuite BR! has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before you reserve the home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your group.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your stay, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Contact the rental manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a great vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
