Heather is a long-term Beaufort resident, visual artist and boat captain in addition to being our property manager, and she's available to ensure your stay in Beaufort is impressive. Historical Note
The original building (now the enormous front room with original wood burning stove) was constructed in Morehead City in 1910. Subsequently, it was moved to its present location in Beaufort where two additions were added: the present day eat-in kitchen and the middle structure with dinning room, baths and two bedrooms. Architecturally, you will notice the style differences between the family room and kitchen with their vaulted ceilings and the newer middle structure.

Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Beaufort vacation property experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • In the Havelock area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. Reserve your Havelock vacation home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Planning and choosing a perfect Havelock rental home:

  • First and foremost, have your family commit to trip dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Scuttlebutt Nautical Cottage in Historic Beaufort, One Block from Waterfront has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your invoice.
  • If there's a particular Havelock destination you are crazy about, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

Tips for a smooth stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during check in. message the property manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • At departure, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a excellent vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
