Tricks and tips for getting the perfect vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- In the Havelock area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is a good way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Planning and picking a perfectrental:
- Select dates and budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Bogue Shores, Unit 133. King bed. Pool side/new pool, Beach/Sound Access has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. If they are not listed, email the property management company before reserving the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your family.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
- If there's a certain Havelock attraction you crave, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
More considerations for your visit:
- Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many issues.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- During check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
