How to find the best Emerald Isle vacation rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- In the Havelock area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Summertime is high season in Emerald Isle. To get the best value, try shifting your family's Havelock vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local Havelock area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. 3rd Row Oceanview Duplex, beach and community pool access, in Spinnaker's Reach has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before booking your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More considerations for your visit:
- Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if there is a dispute.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a excellent stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
