Strategies to get the perfect rental home experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- Booking your vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties.
- In the Havelock area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
How to choose and book your prefect Havelock vacation home:
- First, have your group choose the best dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Amazing Views - OCEANFRONT 1\/2 Duplex! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property owner before you reserve your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your family.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
Tips for your stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
