How to get the best Havelock vacation rental experience:
Get the best value:
- To get the best value, change your family's Havelock vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Beautiful Views of Ocean- BEACHFRONT- Large Family House- WEST has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before you reserve your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your . Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental while you're away. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
