Tips and Tricks to get the best rental home experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Havelock area. To find the largest vacation home within your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Narrow your Search:
- Select your vacation dates and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. BRAND NEW!! The Emerald Hideaway. Located in the heart of Emerald Isle has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rental home search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. Otherwise, contact the host before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
