Vacation rental booking tips:

When to visit Emerald Isle & When to book:

  • Reserve your Havelock vacation in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitor guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • First and foremost, have your family select a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Captain's Quarters East, Oceanfront Duplex in Emerald Isle, NC! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the host before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs applied to your contract.

Additional considerations:

  • Put the owner's information in your smartphone.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your visit, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
