Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation property experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- June, July, and August are high season in Beaufort. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain discounts for nearby tours and attractions.
How to select the perfect vacation home:
- Begin by selecting vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Coastal Cottage, walk to downtown Beaufort, close to beaches, pet friendly. has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before booking the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what is optimal for your vacation.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
Advice for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to stimulate future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
