Tips for getting the perfect Havelock rental experience:
Get the best value:
- In the Havelock area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- To find the most suitable rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Havelock attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Choosing and booking your prefectrental:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Dune Alright, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property management company before you reserve the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
- If there's a particular Havelock attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
During your stay:
- Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
