How to find the best Emerald Isle rental experience:
Sticking to a spending budget:
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Havelock area. To book the largest rental within budget, we highly recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Havelock restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on local tours and attractions.
Make a plan and choose the perfectrental home:
- Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Healios, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible online. Otherwise, call the property manager before booking the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or may be applied to your invoice.
During your stay:
- Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- At Check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
