Tips to get the perfect Havelock vacation home experience:
Get the best rental value:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in the Havelock area. To find the largest vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Property managers sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, property management companies supply Havelock area visitor guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing and booking the best Havelock vacation home:
- Select your vacation dates and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Hear and See the Sound of the Sea has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking websites. If not, contact the host before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
More considerations:
- Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
