Tips to get the best vacation property experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking your Havelock vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is an excellent way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Planning and picking your prefect Havelock vacation home:
- Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Historic Corner Cottage - newly renovated kitchen, bathroom & bedroom floors has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you reserve the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
Know before you go:
- Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few issues.
- Lock your rental while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- To make sure no damages are linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Call the property manager immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to propel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
