Our top Emerald Isle rental property booking tips and tricks:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- Reserve your Havelock vacation home in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your dates, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. Home with golf cart, community pool, easy access,Spinnakers Reach community has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before booking your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's a specific Havelock attraction you are enamored with, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or may be applied to your invoice.
More considerations for your visit:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to inspire more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
