How to get the best Emerald Isle rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in the Havelock area. To find the largest rental for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Havelock restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitors guides that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Narrow your Search:
- Choose vacation dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Surfari, beautiful home on the Crystal Coast has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock vacation rental search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or could be applied to your contract.
- Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a great stay? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
