Our top Havelock rental booking tips and tricks:
How to get the best value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Havelock area. Book your Havelock rental home in Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, property management companies supply Havelock area travel guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting the perfect vacation rental in the Havelock area:
- Select vacation week and maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. 3 BR, 2 Bath home in Emerald Isle! Golf cart, beach chairs & Shibumi included! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. Otherwise, call the host before reserving your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Does your group require particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
Know before you go:
- Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the rental manager immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to inspire future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
