Tips and Tricks to get the optimal vacation rental experience:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- Summer time is high season in Beaufort. Reserve your rental property in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies supply Havelock area travel guides which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Filter your rental search:
- Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Resort style living in small town Beaufort NC has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what is suitable for your vacation group.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the rental manager immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many difficulties.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to inspire new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
