Our top Vacation rental home tips:

When to book & When to go:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To find the best value, change your family's Havelock vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitor guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

  • To make certain that no damages are linked to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. text the rental manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to inspire new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
